I wanted to do a little Q&A post because I’ve had this blog for a couple of years now but I’ve never really introduced myself. When I started this blog I was only going to blog about crochet but over the years I’ve evolved personally and creatively! Now I blog about knitting, my travels, recipes, my adventures around Nottingham and the UK as well as anything else that takes my fancy.
So this is me ….. It was taken a few weeks ago, the day before my birthday!
When did you start this blog?
I started this blog way back in 2012!!! I can’t believe it, that will be five years in January. Though, over the years, I have had some big breaks where I didn’t post at all. I also can’t believe how much I have come along in terms of image quality, theme and, hopefully, content. My spelling and grammar remain awful.
What is your current WIP?
My current WIP is my Favourite Things scarf, to be honest I cannot wait to finish as I started it this time last year and I would like to start something new. I am thoroughly enjoying but… I just want to learn a new skill – like cables or lace. I think I’ve got stranded knitting down to a T now. The cool thing about my scarf is that I’m actually hoping to display it at an exhibition I’m curating for volunteers at a local art gallery. I’ll post more about that closer to the time.
How old were you when you learned to knit?
I remember my gran, who loves to knit, showing me a little when I was a teenager but I never really grasped the idea. It was many years later, during my second year of Uni that I picked up needles – on a whim – but alas, knitting continued to elude me. Then I tried crochet and everything changed. I was hooked. I could express my creativity through yarn and colours. I could make blankets, hats, scarves, decorations! I could design my own patterns and go crazy. I really, really enjoyed it. After another year I decided to try knitting again, I thought “I taught myself to crochet, I can teach myself to knit!” and this time I picked up circular needles rather that straights. For some reason everything made sense and I finally got the point.
Do you enjoy any other crafts/hobbies/interests? If so, what?
. I like to write short stories and I regularly attend a writing group. I occasionally draw and use watercolours. I would like to try embroidery and even upcycle some furniture. But there are only so many hours in a day so I have to limit myself and make sure I actually finish the things I start!
What does the future hold for this blog?
I am going to try and post more often. I have a thousand ideas. I’m working on a series of posts about Crochet and Knit artists from around the world. I also want to feature other crafters, designers, bloggers and artists. I want to create and share patterns I have designed as well as create beginners crochet and knit lessons. All this and more! So stick around for some cool stuff 🙂
What is your next WIP?
I want to start making my own clothes. I love the Slow Clothes Movement. I’m hoping to learn how to knit jumpers from this pattern, which shows you how to improvise a jumper. Once you’ve made one and got the hang of it you can go mad! With colours, stitches, yarn, designs – the only limit will be your imagination! And I’m sure, I know, my imagination has no limits.
Thanks for reading everyone!
