Art:: Pulse at Surface Gallery Nottingham

There aren’t many exhibitions that engage more than the visual sense. Pulse at Surface Gallery Nottingham has sound, smell, texture and sight to lose yourself in.

As you walk in your eyes are caught by the huge, draped black fabric installation that draws eveything in like a black hole, but its unstructured nature allows you to pass through it becoming and altering the piece. To the left, lying face down on the ground, a large sinister creature, howling and groaning, dying. You move around the exhibition, shadowed by the unsettling sounds echoing around the space and are greeted by the intricate drawings of foliage that is infused with subtle scents. It really is a fantastic, evocative exhibition – you must come along.

Pulse is the culmination of a months residency at Surface Gallery. Eight Fine Art graduates from across the midlands were selected to participate.

Below are just a few pictures from the exhibition, you will have to come along, because these photos do no justice for the works. They must be heard and experienced first hand.
